Under the patronage of the Dean of the College of Pharmacy, Assistant Professor Dr. Asaad Hassan Al-Zaidi, the College of Pharmacy held a seminar presented by the pharmacist, assistant Bushra Rahman Haydhour, on the importance of Cyclocapron in treating melasma at low doses of 250 mg once daily orally. When continued for a period ranging from one to two months, it gives very effective and satisfactory results. This drug is also effective in treating rosacea and skin inflammation when used in the form of serum, as the mechanism of action of tranxamic acid reduces pigmentation by inhibiting the plasmin pathway, which prevents the interaction between both melanin skin cells (pigment cells) and keratin. It also plays a role in inhibiting tyrosinase, which in turn stimulates the first step in melanin synthesis.
Thus, the mechanism of action of tranexamic acid slows down melanin synthesis and reduces hyperpigmentation
