The heads of the local atherosclerosis societies affiliated with the International Atherosclerosis Society in the Omani city of Muscat elected the new members of the Board of Directors of the Society on the sidelines of the twentieth conference of the World Society, who will manage the work of the Society for the period from 2025 – 2027.
Where the lecturer at our college, Asst. Lect. Moataz Al-Sabah, won the position of member of the Board of Directors of the World Society, representing the Middle East and Africa region.
The list of winners included doctors from South Africa, India, America, Japan, Germany, Italy and France. This is the first time in the history of the International Atherosclerosis Society since its establishment in 1979 that an Iraqi doctor has been chosen for this high scientific position. The election of the lecturer at our college comes in light of his efforts in establishing projects related to the prevention of cardiovascular diseases and hereditary blood lipid diseases in Iraq, the Middle East and Africa for the period from 2016 until now
