Under the patronage of the esteemed President of Al-Qadisiyah University, Professor Rahi Kaleef Al-Yasiri, and under the supervision of the esteemed Dean of the College of Pharmacy, Assistant Professor Dr. Asaad Hassan Al-Zaidi, the Women’s Affairs Unit at the College of Pharmacy, Al-Qadisiyah University, organized a course on “Suitable Specializations for Women’s Work: Between Passion and Labor Market Requirements” in implementation of the Third National Plan for Women, Peace, and Security – Protection and Prevention Pillar. The course featured lectures by Asst. Lect. Marwa Hadi Salem and Dr. Awlia Jabbar Sahib, in the Jabir bin Hayyan Hall. Women are essential partners in building and advancing societies, and their role in the labor market is growing in importance every day. With this development, new challenges and opportunities emerge that require in-depth discussion about the appropriate specializations for women’s work. The course highlighted this vital topic, exploring the balance between women’s passion and professional ambitions and the changing requirements of the labor market. The course aims to provide a platform for dialogue and exchange of experiences, helping women, and young women in particular, make informed decisions about their educational and professional paths. It demonstrates how women can pursue their passions while simultaneously choosing a major that guarantees stable and rewarding employment opportunities. It covers several topics: The importance of balancing passion and reality: How can women discover their true passions and identify majors that align with them, taking into account the employment opportunities available in those fields?. Promising majors in the current and future labor market: A review of the most prominent sectors and specialties witnessing growth and increasing demand for female talent, such as technology, healthcare, education, entrepreneurship, and others. Challenges and opportunities in the labor market for women: A discussion of the challenges women may face when choosing their professional specializations, such as the stereotypical image of certain professions, and how these challenges can be transformed into opportunities for excellence and innovation. Skills required for the changing labor market: A focus on the essential skills that women must possess, regardless of their specialization, such as critical thinking, problem-solving, adaptability, and digital skills.
