Under the patronage of the esteemed President of Al-Qadisiyah University, Professor Dr. Kadhim Jabr Al-Jubouri, and under the supervision of the Dean of the College of Pharmacy, Assistant Professor Dr. Asaad Hassan Al-Zaidi, the Women’s Affairs Unit at the College of Pharmacy at Al-Qadisiyah University, in cooperation with the college’s activities, organized its first annual festival on the occasion of Iraqi Women’s National Day under the slogan “Iraqi Women: Challenges, Stories, and Successes.” The festival took place on Wednesday, March 19, 2025, at 10:00 a.m. in Jabir bin Hayyan Hall at the college. The festival began with the playing of the Iraqi national anthem, the recitation of verses from the Holy Quran, and the recitation of Surat Al-Fatihah for the souls of Iraq’s martyrs. This was followed by a speech by the Dean of the College, Assistant Professor Dr. Asaad Hassan Al-Zaidi, who emphasized the importance of women’s role in the advancement and development of society. This was followed by a speech by the Head of the Women’s Affairs Unit at the college, Assistant Professor Dr. Awlia Jabbar Al-Hilali, who emphasized the role of Iraqi women in various fields, from academics to social life. Asst. Lect. Marwa Hadi Salem then gave an awareness lecture in which she explained the story of the celebration of Women’s Day. This was followed by a video presentation about previous activities carried out by the College’s Women’s Affairs Unit over the past years, both inside and outside the college.
Dr. Zainab Karim Ghaban, Head of the Women’s Affairs Department at the Governorate Diwan, presented a presentation on the challenges facing Iraqi women and ways to overcome them. Dr. Maha Hamid Al-Sakban, Director of the Women’s Human Rights Center in Diwaniyah, also spoke about the successes achieved by Iraqi women.
The festival included the participation of a first-year student from the College of Pharmacy, who recited a poem about women, followed by a theatrical performance by students from the College of Fine Arts at Al-Qadisiyah University, embodying the importance and status of women.
The festival also featured the success stories of some female students from the College of Pharmacy at various academic levels. The festival concluded with the presentation of gifts to outstanding students and students with success stories. Guests were honored with certificates of appreciation, followed by the honoring of dedicated faculty members and staff at the college. All female college members were also honored with a letter of thanks and appreciation from the dean in recognition of their efforts
