The course covered many matters, including: an explanation of the legal provisions relating to doctors’ prescriptions and pharmacists’ dispensing of narcotic substances and psychotropic substances, as Article 16 of the Narcotic Drugs Law stipulates that a doctor may not dispense narcotic substances or psychotropic substances to a patient except for the purpose of medical treatment for those suffering from neurological or psychological diseases. Article 19 also stipulates that a pharmacist may not dispense narcotic drugs or psychotropic substances except through a prescription issued by a doctor specialized in practicing the profession.
The aim of the course was to introduce the most important main reasons for the spread of this scourge, such as society’s ignorance of its danger or lack of supervision by parents, as well as lack of religious motivation, etc.
The symposium recommended the need to work on educating society, especially the youth and families, and encourage tightening supervision over children to prevent their involvement in this dangerous field.
