Under the patronage of the respected President of Al-Qadisiyah University, Professor Dr. Kazem Jabr Al-Jubouri, and under the supervision of the respected Dean of the College of Pharmacy, Assistant Professor Dr. Asaad Hassan Al-Zaidi
The College of Pharmacy held a training workshop on the technique of using micropipettes / automatic pipettes with the participation of a number of fifth-year students and in the Pathological Analysis Laboratory in the college, on Wednesday 11/12/2024
It was delivered by Asst. Lec. Nahid Sabah Al.Din Saber in collaboration with
Asst. Lec. Hiba Hamid Zidane
Asst. Lec. Rasul Hamza Kamel
Asst. Lec. Zainab Jawad Majeed
The workshop aimed to enable students to master the use of micropipettes (micropipettes) in withdrawing and transferring precise volumes of liquids, which is an essential skill in medical laboratories. The focus was on different types of pipettes, such as single-channel and multi-channel pipettes, and identifying the factors affecting measurement accuracy, such as errors resulting from adjusting the volume, contamination of the tips, and the presence of air bubbles. Theoretical knowledge was also applied to practical examples, such as training on withdrawing different volumes of liquids, to illustrate the importance of accuracy in withdrawing precise field volumes to carry out laboratory experiments.
During the workshop, students were introduced to the parts of the micropipette and how to use them correctly, with an emphasis on the importance of:•Choosing the appropriate size: depending on the size of the sample to be withdrawn.
* Avoiding sharp corners: when dipping the tip in the liquid to reduce the risk of contamination.
* Correct methods for withdrawing liquid: to avoid the formation of air bubbles.
* Disposing of the used tip safely: to maintain the cleanliness of the laboratory.
